چکیده

ICT tools offer the possibility to store, analyse and visualise large amounts of educational data. However, in order to make sense of these analyses, teachers need meaningful information connected to their pedagogical intentions. We envision an enriched learning-design process, which supports the integration of the issues related to monitoring in the script. This paper presents a study where the first author and a teacher iteratively co-designed two authentic learning scenarios with the aim of defining and evaluating a monitoring-aware design model and process. These two proposals, the model and the process, were positively evaluated by the participant teacher, and are the basis for the future implementation of an authoring tool that will support the proposed monitoring-aware design process.

Towards a Monitoring-Aware Design Process for CSCL Scripts

Scripting and monitoring are two well-known strategies to enhance collaboration in CSCL settings. Teachers are incorporating them increasingly into their practice, however it is not common to find both of them aligned. We are working on the definition of a learning design process that takes monitoring issues into account and leads to better and more efficient monitoring when the scripts are put...

Scripting and monitoring meet each other: Aligning learning analytics and learning design to support teachers in orchestrating CSCL situations

From the conceptualization to the evaluation of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) scenarios, teachers address multiple tasks, sometimes being overwhelmed on account of the required time and associated burden. To support teachers in this endeavour, we propose to connect the pedagogical decisions made at design time with the analysis of the participants’ interactions. Thus, teacher...

Monitoring Pattern-Based CSCL Scripts: A Case Study

Two strategies have been proposed in CSCL to foster effective collaboration: structuring the learning scenario by means of collaboration scripts and monitoring interactions among participants in order to detect and regulate potential deviations from the initial plan. In order to help teachers in this endeavor, we propose to combine these two approaches by means of a process where design takes i...

From socially-mediated to technology-mediated coordination: a study of design tensions using group scribbles

It is well known that scripts based on good practices can enhance the collaboration effectiveness and efficiency in CSCL environments. Yet, to achieve rich, interactive, and creative collaborative learning settings CSCL tools need new flexible, dynamic and lightweight metaphors. This design tension between social and technology-mediated coordination is difficult to resolve and worthy of close a...

InstanceCollage: A Tool for the Particularization of Collaborative IMS-LD Scripts

Current research work in e-learning and more specifically in the field of CSCL (Computer Supported Collaborative Learning) deals with design of collaborative activities, according to computer-interpretable specifications, such as IMS Learning Design, and their posterior enactment using LMSs (Learning Management Systems). A script that describes such collaborative activities is typically designe...
